Reading the columns of Professor Cyril Höschl is like a caress for the soul. You might think that this should be normal for a 'soul-searcher.' It should be, but it often isn't. It is no coincidence that it is said, 'What is not given from above cannot be bought in a pharmacy!' The profession of psychiatry itself does not provide such balm. Only when the ability to gain perspective and precise formulations meets the gift of clarity, humanity, and understanding of human weaknesses, along with a distinctive humor and a method of apt examples from life, can a work emerge that illuminates much of what happens around us while not being preachy, but rather educating, entertaining, and pleasing. And this is precisely the case with Answers Without End. The author himself selected and compiled it into book form, mostly as they were created in response to questions from readers of the magazine Reflex. One could perhaps only debate the title itself. Answers do indeed have endings, and they are appropriately punchy!
