Beschreibung
Tesař's study The Munich Complex, originating from 1989 and originally intended only for a circle of friends, holds a mirror primarily to stereotypes and deeply rooted myths in Czech national self-reflection. The third edition also includes, in addition to this pivotal text, a series of essays Patriots and Warriors about the beginnings of Czech collaboration and resistance, which were published in 1969 in installments in Lists, as well as two of the author's magazine studies on the subject from the late sixties. The texts of Jan Tesař stand out primarily for their depth and sharpness of perspective, which in any case forces even those who may not share the author's conclusions to think. Tesař does not hide his bias; however, it is a bias in the best sense of the word – for scientific and moral truth.
