How to support economic growth without incurring debt? How to achieve persistently low unemployment? How to ensure the long-term stability of the social and pension system? How to approach the issue of the knowledge economy? How to rationalize public administration? And what should the optimal role of the state in the economy actually be? The authors of the publication The Path to Balance argue that the ideal state should primarily not hinder the free development of the economy. The goal of good governance should be to eliminate all distortions in the economic mechanism and not to introduce new ones. This does not mean that the government would be without work. On the contrary, the "cleanup" of the current complicated tax, social, and other laws will not be a simple or effortless task. What means will serve to eliminate distortions? The Path to Balance draws inspiration from proven economic models from various countries: Switzerland, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Israel, etc. The authors are convinced that one cannot simply take a foreign model and copy it in the Czech context.
