Beschreibung
Aesop is considered the founder of the Greek fable and remains one of the most famous fable writers to this day. He was likely born as a slave and traveled extensively after being freed from slavery. He recited his fables orally, which were recorded much later. These were short prose stories with a concise plot, featuring a fixed group of characters, especially animals and plants that take on human traits. Real people and figures from Greek mythology often appear as well. Dialogue gives the fables momentum, enhancing the drama and dynamism of the stories. Some fables contain—usually at the end—a didactic moral.
