The textbook guides students towards active exploration of nature and natural laws primarily through observation and experiments. Emphasis is placed on understanding relationships and connections in both living and non-living nature and developing skills necessary for exploring nature. The introduction of the textbook is dedicated to the themes of human use of nature as a source of food and a place to live, where both components mutually influence and interact. The thematic unit Energy Around Us focuses on obtaining energy from natural sources and its utilization. The theme Dangers Around Us addresses health protection issues and habits of safe behavior. Attention is directed towards hygienic habits, safe behavior during activities in nature, and behavior in extraordinary situations caused by natural phenomena. The conclusion of the textbook is thematically focused on sustainable development. It deals with the impacts of human activity on nature and their remediation.
