The textbook allows for the harmonious development of speech skills through various activities; emphasis is placed on listening comprehension and oral expression. Special attention is given to phonetic practice. From the 2nd volume, phonetics is presented in the context of the relationship between spoken and written French. The notes in the margin relate to learning strategies, language resources, realities, and interesting facts from the Francophone environment.
