This textbook is the first part of a six-volume series of thematically focused physics textbooks for teaching in the second stage of elementary schools (or in lower grades of multi-year gymnasiums). The textbooks are developed in accordance with the requirements of the RVP for basic education. They emphasize the distinction between basic and extended curriculum, fulfill interdisciplinary relationships, and appropriately consider cross-cutting themes formulated in the RVP. Attention is paid to the practical aspect of teaching, providing numerous tasks and experiments suitable for implementation in school conditions. All volumes of the series are published with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. A suitable complement to the textbooks are the publications Seminar and Practicum in Physics and a Collection of Problems in Physics for grades 6 to 9 of elementary school. The entire series consists of the following thematic textbooks: Physics 1 – Physical Quantities and Their Measurement, Physics 2 – Force and Its Effects – Motion of Bodies, Physics 3 – Mechanical Properties of Materials, Light Phenomena, Physics 4 – Electromagnetic Processes, Physics 5 – Energy, Physics 6 – Sound Phenomena, Universe.
