Vzpomínky ze Šumavy – Voldřich Jan (2023)

The publication follows the author's previous titles "Stories from the Šumava Cottages" and "Fates from the Šumava Cottages" and is therefore the author's third published work, in which attention is again devoted to the Šumava region, specifically Stašsko, Zdíkovsko, and the surrounding area. ***** In its first part, the author describes Šumava customs and traditions, as collected from the memories of witnesses and supplemented by observations from regional literature, processed by Šumava experts. ***** The second part of the book features captivating narratives of life stories and fates from the Šumava village of Úbislavi, located at the foot of Javorník, gathered from local witnesses and natives. ***** The third and most extensive part of the book is dedicated to the life stories and fates of prominent Šumava personalities among teachers and doctors who worked in Stašsko, Zdíkov, Vacov, Kašperské Hory, and Hartmanice. The publication is supplemented with a large number of original historical photographs and documents related to individual stories, obtained from witnesses.
