The Šumava border was the place where thousands of our fellow citizens illegally left their homeland after the events of February 1948. Newly created specialized units of border guards were supposed to prevent these escapes, even with the use of firearms. This book deals with these armed clashes between the border guards and their so-called intruders. The reader will be introduced to real stories that took place near Český Žleb from 1949 to 1951, during which young people died on both sides of the ideological barricade of the time. In the majority of the stories, the main character is Josef Hasil – one of the so-called Kings of Šumava. The reader will be thoroughly acquainted with all the decisive moments of his career as an agent of the foreign intelligence service CIC. For the first time, the book publishes information about the activities of Josef Hasil that have not been published anywhere or by anyone before.
