Marek, at first glance an inconspicuous and unremarkable boy, has had the ability to control his dreams since childhood, which he hides from those around him. When the journey into his subconscious expands his perception to include the processes in his body, he gains entirely new abilities. He confides in his two closest friends and shares his uniqueness with them. Gradually, all three try to develop their new abilities while hiding them from their parents and 'normal' peers. Due to their curiosity, they stumble upon an organization that seems to have long concentrated individuals with similar traits and tries to integrate them among its members. Will they be able to keep their distance from it, or will they have to submit? Are they the first of their kind or just another in a series? The organization's attempts to gain control over them draw them into a spiral of further problematic situations and adventures in the next five books, as they strive to defend their independence from human society and the organization of the Circles. At the same time, it presents them with new mysteries that their curiosity compels them to seek answers to.
