is the third book in the loose punk trilogy by both authors (44 Signs of Punk and A Brief History of Punk or Back to the Roots). As the title suggests, it not only addresses the period before and immediately after the emergence of punk in England but also looks into the present, where punk is included in many musical directions in one form or another. It thoroughly analyzes the fates, approaches, and careers of the three first London bands: Sex Pistols, The Damned, and The Clash. It provides a brief overview of the main punk clubs of the time and focuses in detail on the most important of them - Roxy. It pays attention to the Teddy Boys and Skinheads and attempts to uncover why both groups attacked and terrorized the newly emerged punks. It features interviews with people who were at the center of the action when the punk movement consisted of just a few dozen people in central London in the summer of 1976 and continues by interviewing bands from various sub-genres (psychobilly, rockabilly, anarcho-punk, crust punk, ska punk, disbeat, celtic punk, etc.) that emerged over time and connected punk with other musical directions, so it still lives on even after 46 years.
