Sylva Fischerová's new prose, Bizom or Service and Mission, takes place in our present. The unusually composed narrative has many layers, levels, and folds, revolving around fundamental questions regarding the relationship between the individual and society: What is human destiny, why are we born, into what are we born, what are histories? What does freedom consist of? What to do next? The central principle of our lives is and remains play. The presence of play continually reaffirms, in the highest sense, the illogical character of our situation in the cosmos. We play and we know that we are playing, thus we are something more than just rational beings, because play is irrational.
