In 1476, the first book in the Czech lands was printed in Plzeň. This book traces the history of book culture in the city from that event to the present day, recalling all printers from the fifteenth century onward. It examines the growth of the field from the nineteenth century through the First Republic, as well as the period under totalitarian regimes. The final section covers the return of free enterprise and summarizes printing and publishing activity in Plzeň after 1990. The contents are in Czech.
