In 1937, Amelia Earhart became the first woman in the world to fly around the globe. During one of her last stops in Papua New Guinea, she is contacted by a mysterious man. He entrusts her with a mysterious package, the transport of which to the USA is in the national interest. However, her Lockheed Electra never reaches the destination of the next leg of the flight. Nearly a century later, the best friend of geologist Philip Mercer, Abe Jacobs, dies under mysterious circumstances in a deep mine somewhere in Minnesota. Philip Mercer decides to take justice into his own hands and sets out on the trail of ruthless killers. What begins as a quest for revenge ultimately turns into a rescue mission, where the future of this planet is at stake.
