The sacrament of reconciliation is a beautiful part of the priestly ministry. One experiences many wonderful workings of God during it. A lot is also learned about God and people through this service. Sometimes penitents are almost fascinated by their sins and their confession, rather than by the living God. Adults sometimes approach this sacrament as they did in childhood; in adulthood, they have not done anything further with it. Some Christians do not even come to confession because they perceive it as something repulsive, inaccessible, and incomprehensible. The author tries to bring us as close as possible to the greatness of God's workings in these reflections. Sins should not be downplayed. However, let us realize that all people have sins, while the forgiving God is fully known only to Christians. And this knowledge is an immense gift that should be granted to everyone to the highest degree possible. Aleš Opatrný does not question how necessary or even obligatory this sacrament is. He mainly wants to show how wonderful it is. Through its celebration in faith, the forgiving and healing Triune God can shine more and more in our lives, and we can trust Him more and more. The book also includes several confession mirrors.
