The fourteenth volume of the Great History of the Lands of the Crown of Bohemia covers the period from 1929 to 1938, i.e., the second decade of the existence of the independent Czechoslovak Republic up to the fateful Munich Conference. Historian Antonín Klimek, one of the foremost experts on the subject, directly continues from the previous volume, of which he is also the author. The extensive and well-documented account of the critical years before World War II does not shy away from controversial questions and issues of the then domestic and foreign policy of the Czechoslovak state, which it strives to present with maximum objectivity. The book is complemented by remarkable period photographs.
