The textbook covers the basics of metallography and heat treatment of metallic materials. It explains the internal structure of metals and alloys, the fundamentals of binary alloys, and presents their equilibrium diagrams. It describes the theoretical foundations of heat treatment of metals, its basic methods, such as annealing, hardening, and tempering of steels, patenting, surface hardening, and also equipment for heat treatment. It introduces the principles of selecting the type of heat treatment, provides sample technological exercises, and lists applicable Czech standards and norms.
