METALOGRAPHY AND HEAT TREATMENT This textbook covers the basics of metallography and the heat treatment of metallic materials. It explains the internal structure of metals and alloys, the fundamentals of dual-phase alloys, and presents their equilibrium diagrams. It describes the theoretical foundations of heat treatment of metals, its basic methods, such as annealing, hardening, and tempering of steels, patenting, surface hardening, and also the equipment for heat treatment.
