Beschreibung
The correspondence between professors František Michálek Bartoš and Amedeo Molnár begins with a letter from twenty-one-year-old Molnár in 1944 and concludes with Molnár's letter written nine days before Bartoš's death in 1972. In their letters, the historians comment on their research, elaborate on their health, discuss their families, the conditions at the Evangelical Theological Faculty, and occasionally, with dry humor, reflect on the political situation. The correspondence features a number of colleagues and well-known personalities, including Jan Patočka, and often includes their faculty colleagues, particularly Rudolf Říčan and Luděk Brož, as well as similarly focused researchers, notably Bohuslav Souček and Jan Blahoslav Čapek. From time to time, younger historians also emerge in the letters, especially Pavel Spunar, Anežka Schmidtová-Vidmanová, Jana Nechutová, Jiří Kejř, Jaroslav Eršil, and Josef Tříska, among others. The lines from both writers testify to mutual respect, scholarly passion, and a growing, deep friendship.
