Encyklopedie československých legií – Fidler Jiří (2025)

The presented book follows the successful work "The History of Czechoslovak Legions in Dates." The previous effort was driven by the desire to suppress the selective interpretation of legionary history, which, however, has not disappeared to this day and receives support from state institutions. Some events, while marginal in the context of the entire legionary history, receive diligent promotional support. In contrast, significant military actions, primarily associated with combat operations on the Siberian railway in the summer and autumn of 1918, remain outside the interest of official authorities. Therefore, this publication continues from its predecessor and aims, now in an encyclopedic form, to capture everything important related to the existence of legionary units. More than a thousand entries are primarily focused on legionary units from the level of independent military companies upwards, on their locations, on the command staff, and on the means of their transport back to the homeland. The entries have a standard form, with mutual references. The text is supplemented by several hundred period photographs and two dozen maps.
