Beschreibung
The year is 1940. Nazi Germany is not hiding its plans to dominate Europe. Anti-Semitism is on the rise, Jews feel threatened, but the options to leave Europe are very limited. In this situation, a group of young Zionists decides to sail to Palestine on a river steamer. They manage to buy a boat and set off on their journey. The boat is overloaded, many passengers are dissatisfied, and the voyage is complicated by issues with the International Danube Commission, an influenza epidemic, a seriously ill child, and hunger. The British, fearing Arab unrest, also try to stop the boat. A novel inspired by the true story of the ship Pentcho and its Jewish passengers.
