Beschreibung
Fredy (Alfred) Hirsch (1916–1944), a talented athlete, teacher, and member of the Jewish scouting movement, was born in Aachen and emigrated to Prague in the 1930s, where he led a sports club for Jewish youth. In 1941, he was deported to Terezin and then to Auschwitz, where he helped establish a children's block that provided some protection for the children from the surrounding horrors. He died under unclear circumstances in March 1944.
