After experienced traveler and photographer Jan Hocek created a network of six Via Czechia trails, he continued east and set off for Slovakia, traversing mountains and valleys all the way to the border with Ukraine. The Northern Trail through Slovakia represents one of the longest tourist and pilgrimage routes in the country, measuring 562 km and connecting the tripoint of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland at Hrčava with the tripoint of Slovakia, Poland, and Ukraine at Kremenec. The trail, which also has a cycling variant, follows the mountainous Slovak-Polish border, which, in addition to diverse mountain scenery and unique nature, offers pilgrimage sites, historical stops, and insights into the rich Goral and Rusyn culture.
