A new perplexing case for the genius detective, who this time will also be fighting for his life... It is December 19, 1931. Hercule Poirot and Inspector Edward Catchpool are heading to the Norfolk coast to investigate the murder of a man that occurred in a local hospital, where the terminally ill Arnold Laurier is due to be admitted in a few days. Catchpool's mother, Cynthia, insists that Poirot and her son stay at the Laurier family's estate during the holidays – Arnold's wife and Cynthia's friend Vivienne are worried that her husband will become the next victim of the murderer. Poirot and Catchpool must find connections where apparently there are none. The local police and the feuding household members are not much help in this regard. And then, out of nowhere, Poirot collapses...
