Beschreibung
Helena Třeštíková shares in an open and intimate conversation with her daughter Hana about her childhood and adolescence, her professional life, and the heroes of her documentary films. In seven chapters, each corresponding to approximately a decade of her life, we learn, among other things, how she experienced the Prague Spring and why she never emigrated, how she met her husband Michael Třeštík, and about her first attempts at making a time-lapse film. They delve into the beginnings of famous films such as Marriage Studies and René, as well as new themes from the post-revolutionary years. They do not overlook other significant documentaries like Marcela, Katka, Mallory, or Private Universe. The entire conversation originally took place as a video podcast from Helena's study. Hana had the opportunity to ask everything that had always interested her as a daughter and was not afraid to pose questions that journalists shy away from. The book thus provides a completely unique account from the acclaimed Czech documentarian, including many previously unpublished details from both her private and professional life.
