What is the difference between the presentation and representation of architecture? What media can be used or utilized for its interpretation? What do we mean by the term 'architectural ricordo' and how can today's researchers, as well as architects, handle it? These and many other questions are posed by the authors of the monograph 'From Architecture to Interpretation', which is the fifth and final publication in a series dedicated to the theory of architecture, created under the auspices of Professor Jiří Kroupa and the Seminar of Art History at Masaryk University. The book is based on a workshop of the same name held on June 7-8, 2024, dedicated to the interpretation of architecture and ways of its (re)presentation. The authors reflect on this issue from the perspective of methodology or terminological definition, but also address other aspects that bring a recent view on the state of research in this area. In addition to theory, a practical perspective is also considered, encompassing various media through which architecture can be interpreted, such as painting, drawing, graphics, and photography, as well as period texts like ego-documents or philosophical, religious, and theoretical writings.
