A true story about the vampire trials in Opava Silesia. Since 1754, Svobodné Heřmanice has been plagued by night phantoms, and stories of horrors, mysteries, and secrets circulate among the people following the death of the local healer and alleged witch Marianna Saligerin. The undead rise from their graves, black magic flourishes, and demons rule the nights. Even the powerful Cistercian monastery offers no help, so two Jesuit missionaries and the scientist Amarant decide to investigate the strange apparitions on their own. Who is nailing the dead and the living to the church doors and burning them with fire? Are they resurrected vampires, or perhaps an unexpected avenger?
