Beschreibung
It is the summer of 1871 when Scotland Yard inspector Ben Ross visits Jacob Jacobus, the notoriously infamous antiquarian, friend of rogues, and police informant. Ben hopes to gather information about potential robberies that could occur now that the wealthiest classes have returned to London for the season. However, he is unaware that a bold theft has already taken place – someone has stolen an emerald necklace, a family heirloom of incalculable value, from the vanity in the Roxby residence, and widow Roxby demands its immediate return. Ben's day worsens when he receives news in the company of his wife Lizzie that Jacob Jacobus has been found dead in his room, with his throat slit. Could these two crimes be connected?
