Prague lawyer Viktor Kafka takes on the case of the suspicious death of a young woman who died on the Matterhorn, the legendary Swiss mountain. The mother of the deceased, Anežka, is convinced that her daughter's death is the fault of the mountain guide Krammer, who happens to be Anežka's ex-boyfriend. The lawyer gradually uncovers suspicious circumstances surrounding Anežka's tragic fall and her dark past, but even that is not enough. To solve the case, he must ultimately embark on a life-threatening ascent himself...
