Alfréd Perkins seemingly has it all. Money, a young mistress, and above all, a successful business with which he travels across Europe at the end of the nineteenth century to showcase bearded women, Siamese twins, giants, or dwarfs to the public. One day, Perkins is visited by Leopold Higgs, an old acquaintance, who offers to jointly establish an amusement park in Bohemia. Perkins agrees, unaware of the consequences this decision will have not only for him but also for his charges. Almost one hundred thirty years later, historian Doctor Benedikt Knesl arrives at the site of the former amusement park with his intern Klára to assist the police with an unusual case. In the dilapidated and abandoned area, a skeleton with a gunshot wound to the skull has been found...
