She left an indelible mark on Czech history, among other things through her relationship with the second main character of this classic novel, Záviš of Falkenštejn, a valiant knight, intriguer, and capable statesman, who even became her husband shortly before Kunhuta's death. The book deals with their fates in the turbulent times following the death of King Přemysl, when Rudolf of Habsburg, the Brandenburgers in Bohemia, and the royal illegitimate son Mikuláš try to assert their power claims.
