An unprecedented crime has occurred at Prague Castle. One night, the regional judge Dobřej was murdered right in the official palace, and a dagger with satanic symbols was found in his body. King Přemysl II. Otakar does not trust the people at his court, and therefore he entrusts the investigation to young Oldřich of Chlum. This, of course, displeases the regional officials, especially when rumors start to spread that the king intends to appoint the Bezdez administrator to the influential position of regional judge. As a result, the Prague burgrave, along with the chamberlain, begins to investigate on their own and accuses the nephew of the murdered judge, Křišťan. The king sentences the young man to death, but Oldřich of Chlum has doubts, as it turns out that there is a missing document labeled 'Judas.'
