Beschreibung

Reinhard Heydrich assumed the position of acting Reich Protector on September 27, 1941, and remained in office until June 4, 1942, when he died from the consequences of an assassination attempt carried out by paratroopers Jozef Gabčík and Jan Kubiš eight days earlier. During his tenure at Prague Castle, Heydrich was involved not only in the bloody repression against the resistant Czechs and the 'final solution to the Jewish question' but also in the issues of restructuring the administrative apparatus and ensuring the functioning of the protectorate as the 'armory of the Third Reich.' All of this, along with other problems and plans, is addressed in his well-known, lesser-known, and completely unknown speeches and writings that were created in Prague and are now published for the first time in a collected edition in Czech. In addition, the book presents perspectives on Heydrich—formulated after his death—by other high-ranking members of the SS. A separate chapter is dedicated to a discussion of the Reinhard Heydrich Foundation, which operated in Prague until the last days of the war.
