Beschreibung

One of the consequences of a potential victory of Nazi Germany in World War II was to be the complete Germanization of the Czech lands, which were considered an integral part of the Third Reich. However, it was first necessary to resolve the so-called Czech question, that is, to find a way to deal with the Czech-speaking population of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Some Czechs were expected to be Germanized, while the rest would likely face deportation to the east. Racial considerations in the spirit of Nazi ideology were to play a key role in this selection. The main theme of the book is the theory and practice of Nazi Germanization and racial policy towards the Czechs. The author compares various concepts and plans for "solving the Czech question," addresses the efforts to control Czech land, and the preparation for German colonization. However, the core part of the text lies in the racist elements of the Nazis' Germanization efforts, with the author not content with merely interpreting the preserved results of racial surveys but striving to detail the selection process itself, using specific cases of individuals who underwent "racial checks" for various reasons. In doing so, he debunks several entrenched myths that still relate to the racist policies towards Czechs during the German occupation.
