The memories of a witness intended for all those interested in history, who are searching for a realistic picture of the conditions and events of the second half of the twentieth century and reject a one-sided or black-and-white interpretation, for those who do not want to censor information but to gather and study it. And perhaps even have a laugh along the way. They can immerse themselves in the colorful storytelling of an employee of a certain central government authority, who, through anecdotes and stories, will initiate them into the secrets and absurdities of the forty-year regime. The book allows the reader to confront the often demonized interpretation of the recent phase of modern Czechoslovak history head-on and, together with the author, to accept history as it truly was.
