The book is the first volume of a series dedicated to the memories of modern war veterans. After the establishment of the UNPROFOR peace mission in 1991, the author became one of the military psychologists investigating candidates for service in UN units at the UN Peacekeeping Training Base in Český Krumlov. From March 1992, a Czechoslovak battalion operated in the territory of the former Yugoslavia, which was replaced by a Czech battalion in April 1993. Josef Falář spent a whole year as a psychologist for the Czech battalion in the officially unrecognized Republic of Serbian Krajina. The book contains interesting information about the formation, operation, deployment, and tasks of our units within the UNPROFOR mission. Through the eyes of soldiers, it presents both humorous and tragic experiences mainly from the period between April and September 1993. The text is interspersed with unique unpublished documents and photographs taken by direct participants in the mission.
