Beschreibung
The number 116927, which Albrecht Weinberg still bears on his forearm at the age of 98, has faded over the years. His memories, however, remain completely clear: memories of his youth, the rise of the Nazis, friends who suddenly stopped being friends, and the loss of his family. He also remembers Friedel, his sister, with whom he promised they would always look after each other. Together they escaped the Holocaust and emigrated to the United States. Decades later, when Friedel was no longer doing well, they returned to Germany together. Albrecht stayed by her side until her death, and there he met her carer, Gerda. Only to her did he open up and begin telling the story of his life, including his faith in goodness despite everything. He also tells of the promise he made to survive so that the memory would live on. This Czech-language book is written by Albrecht Weinberg and Nicolas Büchse.
