Whose stork is that? Who knows? And what does it have and why? The book about the stork Pip brings an exciting story full of various bird species to children, along with the lesson that we can't always do whatever we feel like. The text respects the principles of the genetic method of teaching reading, which was introduced in the Czech Republic by writer and educator Josef Kožíšek back in 1913 and has been gradually returning to many schools since the end of the socialist ban in the 1990s. In genetic reading, syllabication is not used; children initially learn only uppercase printed letters, which they spell out. Therefore, the story about the stork Pip is initially composed of one-syllable words, and from the fourth chapter, two-syllable words are added, while in the last three chapters, young readers will also find longer words. Although parents may find reading one-syllable stories strange, these short words motivate children to read. The texts are also supplemented with questions and exercises. The book is suitable for reading at school and at home.
