Danteho dopisy – Geissinger J. T. (2025)

The first letter arrived on the same day my husband was buried. The return address revealed it was sent from Washington State Penitentiary, and it contained a single sentence:
I will wait an eternity if I have to.

Below it was signed by someone named Dante. A man I didn't know. Out of sheer curiosity, I replied and asked him what exactly he was waiting for. His response?

For you.

I assumed that this mysterious stranger was writing to the wrong woman, and I didn't respond again. But he reached out again and insisted. I thought we had never met, but he claimed I was mistaken.

And so we continued to write to each other, exchanging letters that grew increasingly intimate. And also more mysterious.

Meanwhile, my life was crumbling and playing with me like a rag doll. And as if that weren't enough, the content of Dante's letters became stranger and stranger.

God knows I didn't know where to turn when I made that desperate move. Before I understood what events I had set in motion, it was too late.

Dante was standing on my doorstep.

And nothing was the same as before.
