It's the beginning of the summer vacation in 1983. Twelve-year-old Ashley and her best friend Sid are looking forward to three months of swimming in the quarry, playing video games, and wandering through the woods.
But the woods are not safe.
In their town, children are going missing, some are found dead. Why are their throats always slit in a way that no one could do with a knife? The number of missing children is increasing, but the police are indifferent and dismiss them as runaways. Parents are becoming more and more terrified. The summer that was supposed to be full of carefree fun is slowly turning into a terrible nightmare. Sid and Ashley have a terrifying encounter with a creature that is more boy than monster, and they desperately try to uncover its identity. However, their search gradually turns into a fight for survival.
Enter young English teacher Max, who begins to notice that children are disappearing not just from their town, but from the surrounding areas as well. Will he manage to convince the police that something very dangerous is happening?
