Inspector Sheridan Holler is used to solving crimes on the streets of Liverpool, but when a decomposed body appears in a cemetery, she discovers that she is reopening not one but two long-abandoned cases. Seven years earlier, two women were shot, and the only suspect, a minor drug dealer named John Lively, disappeared without a trace. The case was closed until the body in the cemetery is identified as his. Holler must determine whether Lively was killed in revenge or was simply a victim of the criminal world he inhabited. When shocking evidence about the murder weapon emerges, the cold case begins to look hopeless again. Defeat is not an option, however. Driven by the unresolved and traumatic murder of her brother when they were children, Inspector Holler pursues justice relentlessly.
