I tell them my name is Vis Telimus. I tell them I became an orphan three years ago due to a tragic accident and that I got into their most prestigious school purely by a stroke of luck. I tell them that after graduation, I will gladly join the rest of civilized society and allow it to drain my strength, energy, and determination – which they call Will – and contribute it to those in power, just like millions of others do. Just like everyone ultimately must do.

I tell them I belong among them. They believe me.

But in reality, I was sent to the academy to find answers. To solve a murder. To uncover an ancient weapon. To reveal secrets that could tear the republic apart.

And I will never surrender my Will to the empire that executed my family, no matter the cost.

However, to survive, I must first climb the academic ladder, smile, make friends, and pretend to be one of them. To win. Because if I can't do that, those who seek to control me and know my true name will have no use for me anymore.

And if the Hierarchy discovers who I really am, I will lose my life.
