The Ruin of Paradise is a dystopian post-apocalyptic sci-fi novel told in two timelines. In the first, we learn from the monologue of an unnamed inventor about his discovery of a tachyon gate, which allows time travel. In the second timeline, we follow a quasi-medieval society living off the remnants of our civilization. This original sci-fi story set in South Bohemia is unfolded through a diary monologue, where the author reveals part of the cards and lets the reader guess how such a valuable invention could lead to the ruin of the world. The dramatic arc is heightened by the fact that the story is also uncovered by the masters of the institute and the educated priest Jakobo, who clings tightly to Christian dogmas about the flood and the new world. The reading of the diary is interspersed with the adventures of the masters as they fulfill their work duties, shedding light on the nature of the new civilization.
