Auschwitz 1941. The Germans occupy Poland, and a girl named Sofia cannot look her own father in the eye. Her mother, who is also his adored wife, is Jewish. How is it possible that her father so willingly collaborates with the Germans?
It is deep night when Isaac, along with other unfortunate souls, steps off the train. Surrounded by barbed wire, soldiers point their guns at them from all sides, deciding the fate of the prisoners on the spot – and Isaac is one of those sent to work, not directly to death.
Every day, Isaac commutes with several other prisoners to work on a nearby farm, where he cultivates the frozen ground from dawn until dusk. He feels that with each breath he releases his soul, but when he sees a beautiful girl with chestnut hair in the window, he feels as if he is dreaming.
Sofia is unwilling to come to terms with what she sees. She disobeys her father and sneaks a message to the young man with green eyes, whom she sees every day outside her window, revealing where she has hidden food and that she will try to help everyone.
This fleeting encounter brings Isaac new hope for a life of freedom, which he had already considered forever lost, but also love for a lifetime. However, how will love cope face to face with…
