Elisabeth Parker is leaving the sunny California beaches in the middle of the school year and flying to rainy England. There, she will stay with complete strangers with whom she is to spend the following months. For a teenage girl, it's too many changes. Crosby seems to her from the very first moment like the ideal place. After all, where would she find a better refuge than in a small seaside town, with a family that feels like a safe island? The Shaws, Jonathan and Josephine, as well as their daughter Caroline, do everything to make Lizzy feel at home. And their son... Chase, to put it mildly, does not show as much warmth as his parents and sister. His prejudices and distrust hold him back. Elisabeth also perceives him as a very unpleasant young man.
