When caregiver Jette arrives for her usual morning check on the elderly Mrs. Jensen, she has no idea what sight awaits her. In the bathroom of the dilapidated fishing cottage on the western coast of Denmark, she finds the old woman in an unnatural position. Mrs. Jensen seemingly committed a very brutal suicide; however, the investigation team led by Peter Iversen senses something is off. ***** During the examination of the body, the doctor discovers a crystal ball in the victim's palm with an inscription that proves a connection to the mysterious death of the highest American judge, Elisabeth Moorová Jackson. Peter Iversen is called from the Danish outpost to a meeting in Copenhagen, where he becomes part of an FBI investigation team and is paired with the quirky archaeologist Nanna Rasmussen for further inquiries. She sets off with him to Cairo, where they want to discuss the authenticity of the found amulets with an expert. However, the trip to Egypt takes a turn, the Egyptian police get involved in the investigation, another body appears, and new findings lead Peter and Nanna to the Vatican and New Orleans.
