Based on true events ***** After many weeks of traveling westward, the Donner party finds itself at a crossroads. Both paths lead to the desired destination – California. One is well documented, the other completely untested, but is said to be shorter. Now it is up to leader George Donner to decide which way to go. ***** His decision will affect all members of the party, including his wife Tamsen Donner, who is rumored to be a witch. ***** The unfortunate group must face many hardships. After drought and scorching heat on the salt flats, fierce winds, frost, and deep snow in the foothills arrive. Winter comes early that year. ***** Children begin to go missing, and the settlers turn against each other. Few realize that danger does not only come from the elements and nature. Something much more terrifying is lurking in the wilderness.
