On a cold winter morning, the ice of Vombsjön Lake gives way beneath a young woman, and she drowns. It seems that before the dark waters swallowed her, she was running from something or someone. She had only recently moved to the village of Harlösa in southern Sweden, and it appears that no one knows her or has any idea why she came here. The case is taken on by police investigator Fredrika Storm, who grew up in Harlösa. Together with her colleague Henry Calment, she tries to unravel a seemingly unrelated series of events and is astonished when she is forced to confront the dark secrets of her own family during the investigation. How can the case of the drowned girl be connected to Tobias Falk, who left the village twenty years ago? And why does it seem suspiciously coincidental that Fredrika's mother also disappeared without a trace at the same time? The Raven is an emotional detective story set in a contrasting environment – in the luxurious neighborhoods of Lund and the remote countryside.
