Six minutes and thirty-seven seconds after the takeoff of flight No. 1421 from Honolulu to San Francisco, the plane crashes and plunges into the Pacific Ocean. An evacuation is immediately initiated, but during the process, an engine explodes, forcing some of the survivors to make an immediate decision: to venture into the merciless waters armed only with a life jacket and face the flames outside, or to wait for rescuers in the safety of the aircraft. Ultimately, twelve people remain on board, including designer Will Kent and his eleven-year-old daughter, Shannon. Shortly after the doors are closed, however, water floods the plane, and it sinks sixty meters below the surface. A race against time begins – the air pocket available to the passengers will last only a few hours, during which they need to devise and organize an unprecedented rescue mission, involving Will's (soon-to-be ex) wife Chris, a professional diver driven by the strongest possible motivation of all – the rescue of her beloved daughter. Time is relentless, and the air beneath the surface is quickly running out.
