You wouldn't consider Ofku Morrison a typical teenager. You could blame her hippie parents, her terrifying height, or her home on a bleak, isolated island off the northwestern Pacific coast. But whatever the reason, Ofka simply doesn't fit in – just like Freya, the otherworldly beautiful influencer who was once famous and now owns a small pottery studio. After Ofka enrolls in pottery classes, she quickly falls under Freya's spell. And Freya, invigorated by Ofka's adoration, confides her darkest secrets and deepest desires. In the end, they find a sense of belonging… until Jamie walks through the studio door. Desperately wanting a child, she and her husband have moved to the island in hopes that the fresh air will help her conceive. Freya quickly becomes friends with Jamie, as do their husbands, leaving Ofka out in the cold once again. Then one evening, after a shared dinner and drinks, Freya suggests they swap partners. It was meant to be nothing more than harmless fun among consenting adults who agreed it would be just one wild night to leave behind. But it ultimately turns their lives upside down…
